Alan Johnson is a Senior Policy Analyst at The Salvation Army Social Policy and Parliamentary Unit with a background in town planning and economics. He has lectured at the University of Auckland and Unitec. Alan has extensive local government and community sector experience, with a particular interest in housing, urban economics and community development. He served as a Manukau City Councillor for 14 years and as a director of the Counties Manukau District Health Board for three years.
There will be a time in the future when our children or grandchildren may ask us what we did personally about the over-consumption and profligate waste that brought about climate change, energy shortages and ecological destruction. Will we be able to say that we ever did anything courageous to ensure that the world was a better, safer place for future generations?
