Are you fit enough for a Vizsla ?

The hungarian Vizsla is a very special dog, full of energy and therefore not the easiest one!

Please be absolutely sure that you are able to offer him almost all of your free time (...and the right occupation). If you are not ready (and able) to do that, you will make the vizsla unhappy just as yourself. You should get another dog then.

Please make also sure, where your puppy comes from. Don't buy puppies at markets, parking stations or stores, where the risk is extremely high, that the puppies' health and socialization are not monitored at all and where the parent dogs are just "breeding machines". Even - or especially - if the puppy is offered for a very low prize: For the love of this unique breed: STAY AWAY! Please don't support dog "factories". Instead look out for a serious breeder of your confidence.

A few explanations on the "sprinting scene": Sometimes, our little lady gets her "5 minutes". In this video, the running scene was taken after coming home from a veeerrry long walk (including swimming, sprinting, jumping, climbing, nose work, etc...). So, one should think that our lady had to be exhausted...But if you look at the pictures :-/

Der ungarische Vorstehhund ist ein ganz spezieller Hund, voller Energie und deshalb nicht der einfachste Hund! Bitte seien sie sich absolut sicher, dass sie ihm fast ihre gesamte Freizeit (und die richtige Beschäftigung) geben können. Falls sie dazu nicht bereit (oder fähig) sind, machen sie sowohl sich als auch den Vizsla unglücklich, dann ist dieser Hund nicht für sie geeignet!

Falls sie sich für einen Welpen entscheiden, bitte vergewissern sie sich genau, wo ihr Hund herkommt. Kaufen sie keinen Welpen vom Vermehrer, auf Märkten, auf irgendwelchen Parkplätzen (im Inland sowie im Ausland) oder in Geschäften. Unterstützen sie keinen Vermehrer, für die die Muttertiere nur Gebährmaschinen darstellen und ein unmenschliches Dasein fristen.
Ein gut aufgezogener Welpe, mit dem der Züchter viel gearbeitet hat (Frühprägung..), tierärztlich betreut, geimpft, entwurmt, gut gefüttert, gechippt, etc.., den bekommt man nicht für 150 € ! Gesundheits- und Verhaltensprobleme sind bei Hunden aus Hundefabriken vorprogrammiert; das Geld, das sie beim Kauf sparen, werden sie später um ein Vielfaches an Tierarztrechnungen drauflegen!

Sie haben es also in der Hand - sie können mit ihrem Kauf entscheiden, ob die Tiervermehrer ihre unmenschlichen Geschäfte weiterführen können (Gesetz Nachfrage/Angebot). Auch - oder besonders - wenn sie auf kleine, niedliche Welpen für billiges Geld stoßen:

Halten sie anstelle Ausschau nach dem Züchter "ihres Vertrauens", lassen sie sich die Elterntiere zeigen (falls möglich alle beide) und passen sie ganz genau auf, wie er sich denen gegenüber verhält.

I have had a Vizsla fur-child in my life for 13 great years .... If you dont mind having the world's largest lap dog - and a house full of bounce, then you are in for one of the best family members you could ever have!! :)

I've had a Lab, a GSP and now a Vizsla. GSP and Vizsla's must run... Their nose is as good or better than the GSP so they're great at flushing birds and brave enough to stick their head into a snow covered grass line to pull out a pheasant. The biggest difference I see between the GSP and Vizsla is the GSP is quite happy to sit at your side but the Vizsla wants to sit closer or on your lap. I almost renamed Max to Velcro but decided to stick with Max since he always gives you his max.

Loving the zoomies. I have two weims and they love doing that. They help tire each other out!
