D.J. Houlton warms up prior to a late June Pacific Coast League outing between the Las Vegas 51s and the Fresno Grizzlies. Houlton will play the 2008 season in the Pacific League of Japan after his contract was sold to the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks. The 6-foot-4, 220 pound right hander was originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 11the round of the 2001 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Pacific. He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Rule V Draft in December of 2004. Houlton was 0-2 and registered a 4.18 earned run average in 28.0 innings of work with the Dodgers in 2007. He went 6-4 with a 3.65 earned run average in 106 innings pitched at Triple-A Las Vegas.
