In the Caverns of Time glitch, why didn't you use your mount? Is it still technically an instance and didn't let you or whatever?

Back in July 2006 the entrance to the Caverns Of Time was blocked by a huge stone. It was considered as "indoor" by the game (though it wasn't an instance) so you could not use your mount. Very annoying ;)
