I don;t even know how to start really. Like you said in Catching Fire you're thinking "yes district 13 exists it can help they can overcome the capitol make things right with the world!" and then...in Mockingjay you feel lost. District 13 is using Katniss the same way the capital was. for her looks, her fight, shes not a leader shes a pawn...and really is there any better way to get freedom to the people but you just can't help but get a bitter taste in your mouth.

Really good review! We need more reviews like this: calm and honest with no sarcasm or jumpy editing.
Mockingjay was actually my favourite of the series for the same reasons you felt unsure about it. Collins was really trying to convey how things like war changes you forever, you'll never be the same, you'll continue to wake up screaming. I thought it was so powerfully done. It didn't make me happy, but it did move me.

@danylovemcr I know right. When I read that, I book the book down, and burst out laughing xD
I've got two problems : the fact that gale has been fighting for katniss all this time and then all if a sudden just gets up and walks away and the second how all this has been for prims survival and she just dies. It drives me crazy but I think that is what makes such an awesome book!

dude you're review is exactly how i feel!!!! awesome! i've just finished reading the book yesterday and I have a bag of mixed feelings.
I just dont understand why Suzanne Collins introduced new characters and gave them a personality, (Boggs, Homes, etc) and then just killed them. Prim's death was just thrown in there for good measure, i think. It wasn't necessary really she just wanted to keep the book dark like you said she dangled hope and plucked it back

@17LilSouljah I think that her goal was to realistically portray war, which is to say that people don't usually get heroic deaths and a lot of the time deaths are random. This isn't really what I'm used to in literature which is why it threw me for a loop but after thinking about it, I understand why the book turned out the way that it did. Not to say that I'm happy that so many characters died or left without any resolution :(
