Actually, it looks like the Mclaren was trying to move left, probably thinking he allready cleared the bmw. Moving left there is not what he should be doing. I agree with J2MSaigon, the Mclaren driver should have waited half a second or have been much more on the right.

ah well, shit happens

What crash ?!?!?!?!?

@J2MSaigon I agree, been racing on this track in iRacing for a long time (it´s laserscanned) and the mclaren driver clearly was at fault here.
It turns right more then you think and downhill together with very highspeeds despite the relatively slow exit speeds out of La Source

na bravo herr bmw fahrer

I think the MP4-12C GT3 driver thought he was far ahead of the BMW so he decided to go infront so the BMW could draft.. but he miscalculated and his rear quarter panel was on where the front right fender was to the BMW.. this is like a reason why u need more horsepower either from nitrous or more HP.. so cleaning pass takes a short amount of time instead of long

Kubisashi did that exact same thing to Hamilton moving to fast and got pitted

I swear I so this track last week one formula one when louis Hamilton wrecked

Why did you cut the video so early, I wanted to see te car going through the Eau Rouge

looks like both moved into each other. but the mclaren was a little ahead and shouldnt have turned left because then what we saw happens.
you can clearly see the bmw move into the McLaren.
That's a scary accident.
I was standing in the grandstand right above the crash.

I don't agree. It was the responsibility of the mclaren to either wait 1 second and overtake on the left side (inside line on the next turn) like all drivers have done for 24 hours, or to take the inside line much more clearly to avoid the bmw.

@J2MSaigon The slowest car must maintain his driving line, it's up to the faster to decide where to overtake, and the McLaren was already next to the BMW when they crashed, so the BMW should have just stayed on the left. When a slower car is in front, the driver must use the turn signals (or whatever they are) to show on which side he is going to stay to prevent this type of accident. Either the BMW driver did not signa, so the McLaren driver took a risk, wither he wasn't aware of him.

@XcopeS
my point exactly. the bmw was on the driving line (this is a right hand turn going downhill) and he was aiming correctly at the inside of the turn. Why did the passing car steer left to the outside?

@J2MSaigon Watch how BMW drives parallel to the left side on the track then he moves away from it and hits the McLaren. Who hit who?

@XcopeS the bmw HAS TO turn in, no car can stay parallel to the line there, it is a turn. It cannot disappear. The mclaren took the decision to overtake and should therefore stay as close to the right wall as possible. Or he should have waited. Or he should have passed to the left as he knows the bmw has to turn. Look at my other video. On the bus stop the maclaren overtook me + the 911 from the outside. Only worked because i avoided him. Looking for trouble. First lap of a 24H race!
