It's neither perfect nor disastrous, if you really want to make it big you must put every effort you have in learning to sing, to play and knowing people (connections), specially if want to be a song writer. Other than that follow your dreams, fight for them because everybody you know will try to take them away from you, some to protect you, some not... Get used to criticism, anybody can say "this sucks". Finally, think: even if you live more than once would you bet your dreams in another life?
