Many of the stretches I used to do on the floor, I now do on a Pilates Reformer. I bought a Stamina 4500 for $250 on Amazon.com. It's a great machine. It makes these stretching exercises fun, and more effective. In this video I demonstrate some of the exercises I do specifically to eliminate lower back pain. I use this machine for other exercises as well, but the ones I demo on this video are the most important for my low back. The 10 videos in this series will give you a complete overview of how, in 6 months, I eliminated the intense back pain that I lived with for 8 years. I purchased several inexpensive pieces of equipment, such as this Pilates Reformer, to make my exercise routine fun and effective, but they aren't necessary. What is necessary is your commitment to a daily exercise routine.

  • Did you buy the reformer after having bought all other equipment? which one is really the good one?

  • I bought the reformer at around the same time as the other pieces of equipment. It's a Stamina 4500 (Amazon - $219 shipped). It was an excellent investment. I use it every day and it really makes a difference.

  • any of these good for abs?

  • It's very good for abs. The booklet that comes with this reformer says there are over 4000 different exercises you can do with it. I don't know about that. But most of the exercises I do are focused on abs. Also leg/trunk stretches for my back..

  • after doing the exercise, you will have to sit on this chair to make sure your pain does not come back..carmichael throne.com..sitting is believing...with pain or no pain, you will love it

  • I was about to sell our reformer when my wife found these videos. I've started using it for the back pain from my injuries, and I can already tell it's helping. Plus the stretching exercises you cover in the second video and the crunch video are the same ones my osteopath/acupuncturist recommended, and I already know they work. Kudos on these videos. I'm sure the pilates reformer exercises will help even more. Thanks!

  • i bought this for 20 bucks today at a yard sale it was brand new pretty much when i bought it

  • Thank you for putting this up.

I notice this is a recent video, relatively speaking. Do you feel that the Reformer model you have still offers enough resistance for progressive exercises?

  • Many people buy these and don't use them. So I was able to find this on Craisgslist for $35 after hunting for a few months.
