DL: I know, I preach universal love and that everyone is a brother, and if so there should not be autonomy or segregation, but the Tibetans in exile want me to.
Hu: I am your follower and I love you as a brother; why then do you need autonomy to accentuate and maintain our differences. Don't you want Tibetans and Hans to be brothers? I think we should assimilate. You really can be buried in Qinghai if you will live up to your creed.

DL: I can't really tell you why, but the elders in most every traditional culture almost always want their children to retain the elders' culture.
Hu: I agree that traditional culture is often important subjective to a person, but objectively to all people and subjective to another person of another generation who assimilates, traditional culture is not important. After all, this is how assimilation happens.

Hu: Not a problem if before you die you renounce all separatist activities. Qinghai is a Chinese province, as you know.
DL: Technically I have already done so. But honestly, autonomy is just segregation in flavor, I know.
Hu: Autonomy sounds nice so we have this policy, but can you tell me why a human being needs to a Tibetan to be happy in life?

The message is really confusing. DL says autonomy, no independence. The youth congress says no autonomy, full independence. Not really a clear position for negotiation, isn't it?

it on youtube you know... sad isn't it? he should denounce the previous attempt since he disagree with it now. but it does, he leave it vague... he is only AS serious AS PRC in talks...
face it, his position is like arafet. he can't control what the exile do. his death will also not make the exile go away. they receiving huge donation for this, why give up?
