Gil is backed up by Stuart Williams, guitar, on a tune he learned from a musician in Lewiston, Idaho, where the Clearwater River joins the Snake River near the Southwest corner of Washington State. Gil was born in Anatone, WA in 1916 and was playing dances in that region when he was in grade school. This video was made at a workshop at the 2006 Northwest Folklife Festival, Seattle, by Lew Holt. Gil has two CD's available from Voyager Recordings at www.VoyagerRecords.com
I come from a long family line of, as my Dad put it... (rest his soul) "We are Hillbilly's ! " This music brings back old childhood memories. Thank you
