"One Day More", combining Lord of the Rings to Les Misérables. Unlike all my other Valjean/Javert crossovers, this video takes place right before the second half of the musical, and introduces new characters.
ARAGORN plays Jean Valjean, who has rescued Fantine's daughter Cosette fom the cruel Thénardiers (played by Gollum / Smeagol) and years later, is once again on the run. He mistakenly fears that (after an attempted break-in by Thénardier) Javert has found his trail at last, and prepares to flee the country with Cosette.
FARAMIR plays Marius, one of the revolutionary students who has fallen in love with the beautiful Cosette. He is torn by his love for her and his loyalty to his comrades, who face a very real danger against the city soldiers.
ÉOWYN plays Cosette, the young woman who does not know her real past. She does not realize that Valjean is her adopted father, who rescued her from the inn where she was horribly mistreated by the Thénardiers. Years later, she has grown into a lovely young woman, and consumed by thoughts of Marius.
ARWEN plays Eponine, the daughter of the Thénardiers, who is secretly in love with Marius and watches out for him, but is barely given a second glance...
GALADRIEL plays Fantine, Cosette's tragic mother. Cast out with by contempt by everyone; save for Valjean, who intercedes when Javert is about to take her to prison, Fantine dies, just after pleading for Valjean to look after her daughter.
The WITCHKING plays Javert, who has disguised himself as a spy among the revolutionary students, pretending to join them while intending to betray them. He does not realize how close he is to discovering Jean Valjean, whom he has sworn to hunt down...
BOROMIR and the Elves play Enjolras and the students.
They are idealists who prepare for revolution against the Government. Only Marius, his friend, his distracted by thoughts of the mysterious Cosette.
On the eve of the revolution, the students and Javert see the situation from different viewpoints; Cosette and Marius part in despair of ever meeting again; Eponine mourns the loss of Marius whom she knows will never love her; and Valjean looks forwards to the security of exile. The greedy Thénardiers, meanwhile, dream of rich picking underground from the chaos to come.
Notes:
- I hope the casting is okay; I tried to match up everybody as best I could. I'm probably the only person who ever came up with a Faramir / Arwen pairing (sorta), right? LOL It's just that Faramir fit Marius so perfectly, for some reason. And that left Arwen as Eponine (and she's always so sad) and I like how Éowyn and Galadriel both were fair-haired, as daughter and mother.
Gollum / Smeagol were the only ones I could make fit the Thénardiers. Greedy and conniving, yessss precious!!
- For those of you who are familiar with the Les Mis story, please do not start telling me that you think Frodo would be a better Valjean, with the Witchking hunting him, and leaving Aragorn as Marius and Arwen/Eowyn as Cosette/Eponine for the love triangle. Yeah, it sounds like it matches story-wise but for someone who's translating nearly every Les Mis song into LOTR, that would be a VERY hard cast. Do you know how many scenes there are with Frodo where he's NOT in the wilderness? What about fighting for his life, or on the run like a fugitive? Nuh-uh. He just doesn't fit the character of Valjean. Just because the Witchking is hunting him for Sauron in the books/movies doesn't mean that can be applied for Valjean and Javert. It's two different stories.
Personally I just can't stand the thought of Frodo being Valjean. :p And Aragorn is far too old to be a young, idealistic Marius. The expressions of each character are all wrong if I cast it exactly the way the relationships are in Lord of the Rings.
I had already made my first video using Aragorn/ Valjean ("Stars") last June 2008, and I'm not going to change it. Aragorn fits Valjean just fine for me, personality-wise and appearance more than anything. Think about it; he's got just as much to hide as Frodo, even moreso with his past. And plus, Colm Wilkinson's voice is just too perfect for Aragorn. *cough* LOL Sorry for ranting, it's just that I want this cleared up once and for all; this is my third time on YT and I get comments like that a lot.
- I made this video during Christmas and January, using Adobe Premiere 2.0. Most of the major work was done in 3 days. (It was so involved that if I had spread it out over weeks and weeks, I would have totally gotten lost and confused with what I was doing!)
- Please leave feedback! I know you'll all been waiting months for it, and I hope you enjoyed watching it at last!

I am not making any profit off this fan-made video
Inspired! Especially Smeagol as the Thenardiners. Lol.
Except you said in the description this song is from the second half of the musical. It isn't - it's the End of Act 1 finale.
