South Carolina Army National Guard
Afghanisgtan Deployment Ceremony
Univ. of South Carolina--Williams Brice Stadium

Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré (USA, Retired) gave a powerful speech to these deploying soldiers and 10,000 friends, family and supporters. General Honoré is most widely remembered for his successful military command during Hurricane Katrina.

This is a powerful speech that I believe every American should view. Lest we forget those who sacrifice for our freedoms.

THANK YOU for your service to our country. I am a proud Army Wife whose husband was deployed with you. I am so glad that you stumbled upon this video. It was a very emotional speech. It brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to him speak.

"To be born free is an accident, to live free is a privilege and to die free is a responsibility".

  • The President of these United States...excuse me...OPENED UP A BIG OLE CAN OF WHOOP ASS!!! I was on that field that day. I am a proud member of the 218th BCT SCARNG and I am proud to have served these United States in Afghanistan.
