@ljt726 may I ask who was your Pop Pop?

Every single one of those men felt a little pride in what they have done , but my buddies overseas right now have convinced me not to join the service and have told me that when they do their time they will get out fast. What happened between the days of the old Vets and the men and women fighting now? Does camaraderie no longer exist? It saddens me.

Camaraderie absolutely does still exist, my wife and I have been supporting the troops for 5 years and I witness it time and time again. Our military comprises the best of us both present & past.Your buddies seem to be the exception given that just 7 months ago we had the largest reenlistment ceremony in military history over in Iraq. I can only extrapolate that your buddie's current outlook may be as a result of the election of our new marxist president, and make no mistake, he is a marxist.

...and marxism/socialism/communism is not what I served our country to preserve. But, this is America, and I believe our founders principles will prevail in the end. So please consider that when deciding on whether to serve or not. Oh and I in no way meant for my last reply to sound like I thought your buddies weren't among our best! They are absolutely true patriots to be admired.
