Time lapse footage of a day of cycling on the Shimanami Kaido cycling route between Onomichi and Imabari!
I wish the camera had 360 degree view, because staring at the road you deff don't capture the full magnitude/beauty of the surroundings!

  • Could you bike from honshu to shikoku and back again in one day?

  • @maxgo111 It's possible, if you have a good road bike and light luggage then you could definitely do the Onomichi - Imabari roundtrip (one way is around 80km)

  • how long did it take you?

  • @eiroight Several hours, it's only a 60km ride, lots of nice places to stop and look around. Great one day journey. Would be fun to split it up into 2-3 days and explore some of the hills/mountains on the islands! :)

  • very grateful for this video! i am considering doing this route when i next go to japan...

just one question. could you imagine doing this alone or would it not have been as much fun?

  • @xiongmao07 This would definitely be fun either way, depends on what you enjoy the most. Doing it alone would be okay, since there are lots of other bikers on this route usually, so you will more than likely bump into someone if you get lonely. Doing it with friends would also be great since there are tons of beaches to relax on, have a picnic, go hiking, etc.

  • @vladtepesdrac thanks for the info. I think when I go next year ill take a bus to Imabari and then bike back. So there is time to enjoy the scenery :)

  • This is very helpful for trip planning. Thank you.

  • That's awesome man!! I can't wait to do this when I'm studying abroad over there. I got just one question though, if you can remember: which side would have more downhill slopes? lol. Thanks! And awesome video!

  • Very cool. What kind of camera were you using and what time interval did you use?

This is still my favourite day of riding ever.
