This is actually a great tip ,Learned it back in the early 70's, to make the second cut you can shim the pipe from behind and two screws to hold a piece of wood in front, or you can go out and purchase an oscillating cutting tool for about 250 bucks. Two screws and two pieces of wood is cheaper.
