the song is about doing something, that you ashamed of telling anyone, so you try to kill, or dismiss, or silence it, or stop anyone from telling your secret (the bird) when you (or florence) eats the bird, you end up telling on yourself, because you're guilty. my interpretation

this song is about revenge and carma, the bird obviously can't stop singing so she kills it and when florence goes to sleep she realizes that the bird couldn't possibly stop so she killed an innocent bird
