These windows capture and store the solar thermal energy within the clear mass in the window. They also have integrated exterior shades to block the energy when it's not needed or wanted.
Thaks for doing this video. I'm in the early stages of planning my passive solar home here in Utah and I never heard of the water-gel filled windows before.
The temperature of up to 110 degrees seems to be a safety hazard to human touch, especially small children getting burned. Those windows should be out of reach (up high).
I do not like the windows they do not make much sense.
Thermal mass need to be inside the house like a concrete slab.
Having that liquid gel in the middle of the sandwich glass with argon inside and outside will not do much the part of the solar heat that dose not get inside is absorbed by the glass and water gel then after there is no sun it gets released mostly on the side where temperature difference is larger i guess usually outside so there is no benefit and cost more.
Looks very cool. Also, I hope you are not still running around with what looks like a Post-It note on your back saying "kick me".... (whatever that little yellow thing on your back was, it sure stayed in each video.)
You're showing a transparent window yet talking about a thermal mass gel, or a water-filled cube with insulated exterior glazing? Very confusing. Sounds like you're describing nanogel insulated glazing, similar to Kalwall's translucent panels that can have a thermal resistance of up to R-20 but have minimal thermal mass. I'm not aware of any window or glazing products that even come close to matching your description. Please provide more specific info. Thanks!
