from the press release
Videogame publisher Iceberg Interactive and development studio Ntronium are pleased to report that a Supernova (PC) will occur in the universe of Armada 2526 in April 2011, both enriching and expanding the turn-based space RTS game that was originally released by Iceberg Interactive for PC in June 2010.

Raymond Snippe, Senior Development Manager of Iceberg Interactive: "We are really excited to continue our cooperation with Ntronium on the Armada franchise. The new Supernova add-on, the extra races and overall improvements truly expand the existing Armada Universe beyond its known space. Supernova offers light-years of new gameplay to explore and we are sure that fans of the series will be truly delighted."

"I'm really excited by the release of Supernova. It's a huge expansion with tons of new tech new things to explore, and lots of improvements suggested by fans over the past year. In particular I'm really pleased to have included multi-player support, as Armada 2526 is one of the few grand strategy games whose system is ideally suited for it", said Bob Smith, Managing Director of Ntronium Games.

Supernova is the first expansion for Armada 2526 and gives you more to explore, more to exploit, two new races to exterminate, and lets you challenge your friends over a local area network, or by email. The exploration side of the game has been greatly enhanced with new types of stars and planets, and a wide variety of special characteristics that a system may possess. There?s a new trade system that lets you build up a trading network, a system for espionage and special operations, many new technologies to research, and lots of new units types.

Iceberg Interactive has set Armada 2526 Supernova to burst into retail stores across Europe in April 2011.

Armada 2526 Supernova features * Two new races to exterminate * Various new types of stars and planets * Wide selection of special characteristics that star systems may possess * New trade system that allows you to build up a trading network * New espionage and special operations systems * Many new technologies to research * Challenge your friends over LAN or by e-mail

About Armada 2526

Although the game is complex, and the possible strategies endless, powerful help and advisor features, help you get up to speed quickly. Unlike many games in this genre, Armada 2526 focuses on providing a game that can be finished in a reasonable time, and emphasizes battle and strategy over economic micro-management.

The game consists of two sections. The Star Map is where you run your empire: manage your colonies, deploy your fleets, do research, and conduct diplomacy. It uses a turn based system, so you can take as long as you wish to plan your actions. However, once battle is joined, you switch to the battle module and fight it out in a real-time 3D system that brings to life the beauty and visceral carnage of space combat.

  • It's just another game like the Civilization - "bad" graphics and superior gameplay. Have to agree with capkill. The last few CoD's were all the same except for the campaign which was WAY to small. Why buy Black Ops when its multiplayer is the same as Modern Warfare's?

Go back to the old school games, where gameplay mattered, and not the imba graphics. :)

  • THEY SHOULD.. MAKE.. HOMEWORLD 3

  • @TheOnionkun They Can't.. There's some legal crap blocking the whole thing..

  • I need to know what you used to create this game. what engine? language? ect.

  • May the dislike bar reach the size of ron jeremy !

  • Like game from 1998)))

  • @ReinierSanders Civlike RTS, so many of em, allover the place.

  • @Fliuck I personally feel it's an artistic great job, the alternative had been a 2d picture with a number next to it, this is definitly better.

  • @jpvg1981 I know that this is not realistic, but moving something that large would take a starship's sized anti-gravity generator to compensate for their size. I know that they are representational but still, I feel that if you are going to have a bloody large mecha then have something smaller then it to show it's scale.

  • @Fliuck Really? it is tokens to show that you are invading, it isn't meant to be realistic.

  • With all respect to this game I feel two things are wrong with it.

    1. those ground units must be the largest ground forces I have ever seen, hell they beat an Emperor-class Titan from 40K in shear size.

    2. While setting up a galactic empire I really don't like the feel that I would be engaging on a 2D plain sorry but use EAW as template at least they got the idea.

  • Yes freespace lacks a few features, but you still have to admit that freespace is a good game
