This video depicts the superb sky conditions characterising the site of ESO's Very Large Telescope, as the night falls on the observatory.

Amongst the wonders of the night sky that the astronomers observe and study, the distinctive white lane of our galaxy, the Milky Way, shines in all its glory.

  • @longded - I would guess it's an airplane. You've never seen the lights of a jet airplane at night from the ground? =)

  • I love this space ship called earth and all the wonders it gives us

  • This is where I want to take my son. As a single father raising a child, I will do everything to be a great father. Something about the Universe and stars makes you appreciate everything more. Its an inspiring view. God willing I will be able to take this trip with my son. He is two now but when he is a bit older I want to be able to take him here and have him remember it forever. This is my one goal in life that I will never give up on.

  • @Bigsui31

sounds cool, be safe, it's hot out there, and dry, and no water, and high altitudes ergo less oxygen, but you should definitely do it, you can always find other (safer) places far from cities and civilization where you can watch the nightsky in great detail

  • Even 'awesome' isn't enough word to describe it..... :U

  • @djxatlanta ah wondered if it was shootie star or meteoric michael ? ;]]]

  • I've seen the sky like this only once before though it was a little less perfect.

It was a few years back on the highest dune of Europe '' Dune du pilat '' I hope I spelled that correctly.

    Anyway it was quite overwhelming.

  • WAOOOO wish I could see a sky like that one!

  • Beautiful night.
