  • I have a question: What´s the difference between the pen (on TX2 or latitude XT) and the pencil on T580? I know pencil needs battery, but what else?

  • @adameichler Well this may not completely answer your question (let us know), however the LIFEBOOK T580 actually comes with a pen, so no major difference there. This video is showing the capability of the n-Trig DuoSense pencil that is available for purchase separately, but does not come with the T580.

  • can you rest your hand on the screen while inking? like old school tablet PCs?

  • @JMonkeYJ Good question. Yes, you can rest your hand on the screen while you write with the pen on the T580. Its n-Trig capacitive digitizer knows when the pen is nearby and does not allow touch input at the same time, so no conflict with inputs... Pen writes, touch manipulates. Another YouTube video can show you more of this technology/concept - search for "Manual Deskterity: An Exploration of Simultaneous Pen + Touch Direct Input" (can't paste the URL;)

  • @fujitsufan Thanks. I also found this video: "Fujitsu T580 Hands-on Convertible Multitouch (HD)" that demonstrates it in action on the T580. seriously thinking about this device now.

  • @JMonkeYJ Yep, there is another good one put out by its product manager at Fujitsu Technology Solutions (FTS) based in Germany showing the 4-Finger touch functionality "4 Finger Multi Touch with LIFEBOOK T580". We've been using it lately here in the US and are impressed with some of the menus and special functions you can really do with 3 & 4 finger gestures -- see video "N-trig N-act Hands-on Gesture Vocabulary" T580 is a pretty powerful little Tablet ;)

  • its laging;/

  • @StevenT00 nice joke, Dell Inspiron Duo doesn´t include n-trig touch and pen, but just capacitive touch, so you have to search for something like Pogo Stylus or similar ones.

  • were can i buy these pens XD i need a duo sence pen for my dell netbook/tablet its capacitive touch so i hope one of these will work for it if anyone knows were to buy them please let me know i asked n-trig but they told me they dont sell them that i have to ask computer companies to see if they have them or not XD

  • @adameichler really? O_O proof pls :(

  • @saphi20 now it does

  • @fujitsufan I found some information about it: hp slate 500 and t580 use cheaper technology than DELL xt2, so both of them need battery for the pen(cil). I think n-trig introduced the Pencil, because it should be better than pens sold with t580. But can´t see any other reason why buy it.

  • If that's the N-trig Digital Pencil, the design looks quite familiar...Kno Stylus? I've always wondered which digitizer it was using, but now it looks like I have my answer.

Anyway, nice video. It helps get the point across as to why some of us demand a pen.

But as for the T580, it's a nice machine, but I'd personally rather take the upcoming T901 instead. Especially if it delivers on those NVIDIA Optimus promises.

  • n-trig sucs.... wacom is better...photoshop doesnt work with n-trig >:(
