Who says there aren't good bishops? Among the many that are good, one in particular is distinguishing himself by more than his words.

  • With regards to Bishops in general. Are not all Bishops "named" by our Blessed Pope? How does the unruly souls of some Bishops pass by thine Holiness? Do they just become unruly after ordination?

  • @TheBatHouseguy When dealing with thousands of bishops all over the world, it is impossible for one man to know what they are like. And he accepts the recommendation of others - many of whom are part of the problem. It takes a long time to turn around a ship as big as the barque of Peter.

  • Excellent message, thanks Michael.

  • At 2:46 you say a bishop that defies canon law and refuses to refuse communion to someone opposed to abortion reform would be in the Talk the Talk, not Walk the Walk crowd. And that Archbishop Sheehan is definitely *not* in that crowd. But in an August 2009 interview with National Catholic Reporter he said, in relation to Obama's stance on abortion, that 'refusing communion because of a difference on a single issue was counterproductive. He described such actions as a “hysterical” reaction.'

  • I would add to this. CS Lewis in Mere Christianity expounded on this concept of the natural moral law, and how it is different from our other instincts. Thus, every one of us has this moral instinct wittherehin us. Plus, as Lewis also reported, there are more similarities than differences when it comes to moralities of different cultures. Thus, and as RealCatholic TV said, it is quite impossible for a person to be ignorant of his sins and transgressions.

  • @joesphx19 Finally, we could never list everyone - so what do we do? Create a list of good ones and bad ones? What about the people who aren't on either list? Are they assumed to be good, or bad?

It's impossible to do effectively and fairly. So we are not going it - no more requests for it, please. If someone else wants to do that, fine - but we won't be doing it nor will we be assisting or supporting such an endeavor.

  • @joesphx19 It's impossible to name all the good and bab bishops - for many reasons. Firstly, we can only report on single events (so, for example, Abp. Dolan's excellent defence of marriage and Abp. Dolan's scandalous promotion of the pro-gay group). It is difficult to create a "good / bad" dynamic for each one. Secondly, people disagree - we have received many emails attacking the bishop of Santa Fe for other actions!

  • @justjacqueline2004

Yes, RCTV shines there. Is it too much of a political hot potato to name the Bishops that fall in each category? We value RCTv opinion most highly and many of us would appreciate that. In the case of our retiring Bishop of the Pensacola-Tallahassee Diocese, he was of the worst kind. I have tried to find ways to get the message to our Holy Father that we are desparate for a Bishop that walks the walk, our past Bishop wouldn't even talk the talk. Very discouraging.

  • @petehogevideos, I had a similar question: What if one never knew God because one was in a non-religious family & passed away ignorant of sin? What would God do? I prayed for an answer & got it. I heard, "I always make Myself known to them during their life, & I give them a choice to accept or reject Me & sin. They learn from others like you." This hit home. I took my daughter's agnostic friend to Mass with us several times with a parent's permission. After awhile she quit our friendship.

  • wish it was preached at our parish, and if it has, that it would be said again. unfortunately, it look like the ones who need to hear that, have no intention of amending their life and count on Jesus unconditional forgiveness to bail them out.

Oh Lord, you who heal the blinds, have mercy on them and open their eyes, that they may see and repent. so that they may be freed from their sin and enjoy the beatific vision for ever.
