  • Pretty good conducting, orchesnra sounds good too regardsless of distorted sound becaouse of position of camera microphone

  • @MaestroSerge: Yes. Almost impossible to get a decent sound in that hall regardless of microphone placement. It's a smallish (c. 800 seat) square box. I understand that the original intent when the building was first constructed was for a much larger space--depthwise--hence, it is too wide for its depth and nothing is focused anywhere. One would think that a Big 10 university could do better; a replacement is in the works, but we know how long those things can take.

  • wait a minute, isn't "Feierlich" movement four?

  • This is movement 4, as indicated on the video. Yes?

  • the subtitle (0:07) says:

    "Symphony #3, III. Feierlich"

  • Argh! Darned subtitles! Can't find a good secretary anymore!

  • @MahlerTitan This is the fourth movement. Most symphonies have four movements, but some have five movements. This symphony has five movements.

  • Good old Mills Hall... great performance!
