  • @andrika1990 No one knows! No recordings (of course)! It's thought that they must have, considering a lot of the music used in this film was drafted from actual manuscripts/scores from the time and research done on music written for castrati. It would be amazing to hear someone actually do that though! (without the castration part!)

  • *crash*

  • is he fanning himselfbecause his hormones are out of whack i wonder?

  • @Ahonya666 But those looked like women pouring the drinks while they were eating. The servants that is.

  • Does anybody know if the harpsichord part is improvised or taken from a real piece? It sounds like it could be a charming piece.

  • @andrika1990

women were not allowed to sing or act, let alone wear men's clothes. Italy at this time was very macho.

  • why were those women waiters dressed like men????

  • did real castratos sound anything like the combination they created?

  • @rattenjungfer Both , they mixed a man and a woman voice to get this voice next to the perfection ...

  • Love the music, but the direction is not quite right. >People then did not applaud in this way. The women and sometimes men had fans which they sort of beat against their free hand.

The conductor is always playing the ham in these scenes. A bit of restraint would have served the center of the film better.
