Rattlesnake Blues - Charlie Patton

Patton was the most influental blues guitarist and singer form the delta. He was characterized by his way of singing which is known as hollerin or shouting. He lived most part of his life, as many other mississippii blues singers, at the Dockery Farms. This man is the blues.

@GuitarFreakTaylor I'm not so sure up to what point they saw music as "extremely important" when they got completely drunk, jumped all over the place and kept a look out perched on some nice woman's ass while playing at some joint.

By the way, their only known pictures, where they looked so dressed up, were taken on purpose by the record companies to promote their work.

@bournvilleaddict Not true at all. These men from the earlier days dressed nicely because they knew it was respectful, and they knew that music was an extremely important event to get dressed up for. Better check your facts before you make statements as such.

I just visited Dockery Plantation three weeks ago. There are two Blues Markers honoring Charlie Patton. The place is intense. Visit if you can.

@bournvilleaddict Charlie Patton was part white and part Native American (and part African American, of course). His hair was naturally wavy and his complexion was light. There's always a million different racial issues to bring up with the blues if people really want to focus on that...but Charlie Patton's definitely not your poster boy for the hair-straightening issue.
