Baby JJ's 1st Yr Luau Fireknife 01-07-2012

To celebrate Baby JJ "Dynamite" Julian's 1st birthday, Daddy Jerry (in S. CA) recruit's Uncle Chris (in Kauai) to do a fire show to put up on youtube for Baby JJ's 1st year Luau. In Hawaiian culture, the 1st birthday Luau has special significance to remember and respect the kids who did not make it that far and to celebrate a kid that did.

As a special honor, a Kauaian cultural heritage group, The Children of the Land, led by Uncle Phil on the Toere (Tahitian Drum) provided musical accompaniment and opened with Fire Poi Ball dancers before Samoan Fireknife performances by students: Young Eli and Uncle Chris; followed by their teacher, Paul Morimoto. Unfortunately, Paul cut his hand pretty badly on his wicked sharp and red hot fireknife hook and was unable to do the grand finale double knife performance he had planned. Well, there's always next year. Enjoy!

This was truly the most touching and awesome of birthday gifts ever! Julien is blessed to have such friendship and love come to him from Kauai.
