@ObsidianImages i don't really see that comparison. layne had a one of a kind voice and very powerful scream, but i don't see much of a comparison to jon other than that. jon obviously isn't as good at singing as layne, but jons screams are his own and i don't see any layne influence there. plus you can't say he was copying layne because he had long dreadlocks, that is just stupid. korn is more groove and riff oriented, while alice in chains has more complex guitar work, grungy alternative feel.

Actually, its worth noting that Jon is basically a clone of Layne Staley. Layne was one of the first to really get into these themes-way back in 89 on facelift, Jon seems to be copying alot of Layne's persona, dreadlocks and all. More conclusively, Jon opted to go for the "evil droning" voice that Layne was famous for-the growly singing that helped define Alice in Chains, was taken and used in Korn. Jon is far from original, and his proficiency as a singer has always been very questionable.
