Here is a new recruit to the Swiss Army who is explaining to me what Swiss gun law dictates for all new entrants. I have heard anti-gun control advocates praise Swiss gun law with its national militia concept so similar to our Second Amendment ideas. This part and the next one are intended to place fact on an emotional issue in the US, one that hasn't been properly discussed in the US since the 1960s.

I appreciate your effort. I know the Swiss are very detail oriented. 863simon has done a pretty complete job of filling in the parts that were missing or needed correction.

our range is nearly in the center of the village...so ranged rifle shooting is also a part of swiss tradition.

You can have full autos in Switzerland but you need to have a save in your house and the police will come every 2nd years to check on the gun. Of course you also need to have a clean record which means that you have never been involved in a crime. Other then that, it is still very hard to get the special permit.

It is allowed but only if it is privatly owned land and other people can't enter it. I would recomend that create a range in your cellar since it will be much easier. Of course you could just use the public ranges that are in almost every village. Hunting isn't really a problem if you have a license (it allows you to hunt almost anywhere).

Excellent job. I appreciate ALL your comments and they appear to be correct from all the other info out there. You did a fine job of detailing the nuances that Marc brushed upon, but didn't specify. The correction about the carrying permit is very helpful. Thank you for your great comments and clarifications of his report. If you want to put those comments in a video, I would be willing to place it here.

I'm sorry for the amount of comments but it wasn't possible to write this amount of text any other way on youtube. I do understand your concern about gun nuts spreading misinformation. I've seen some bad ones (Why Switzerland Has The Lowest Crime Rate In The World). I belive that Marc means well but many of the references concerning civillian laws were not very accurate. I don't mean to frustrate you, I just needed to clarify. Sincerly, 863simon
