Complete "tennis training" is the key to ultimate tennis success. You want to maximize all aspects of your training to win more tennis matches.

Total tennis training involves having a plan for your fitness, injury prevention, mental toughness, and nutrition.

In terms of your nutrition plan for tennis, one of the most important things you can do to take care of yourself and help your tennis is to get high quality nutrients into your system within the first 30 minutes after a challenging workout or match. You can replenish lost vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that will help you recover after a strenuous tennis training session.

Your recovery is dependent on what you do right after practice or a match.

Find a high quality protein powder and a high quality snack bar and have it handy right after your training session.

Look for protein powders and food bars that are minimally processed and have whole food ingredients.

Avoid foods, powders and drinks that contain artificial flavors and colors (these fake foods will slow your recovery time and directly effects your tennis training.)

Adding this nutrition protocol will greatly increase the efficiency of your tennis training.

  • Good advice! Thanks! I play pretty hard so you're right, muscles do get inflamed. Got to buy some protien powder!

  • What about before tournaments? Like what can I eat for breakfast before I play?

  • This isn't necessary to buy protein powder man! For bodybuilders, it's useful, because they need 2 grams of proteins/kg of their body. But the first thing you have to improve is your diet. A tennis player doesn't need to buy expensive supplements. Just concentrate on improving your diet, there are many meats that are full of proteins, like chicken (25g of protein/100g of chicken) which has a low rate of fat.

  • From which age do you recomend, proteins powder?? Considering that are tennis top athlets???

  • @lakshaanR Also, if you are buying protein shakes somewhere else in the store. don't listen to what guys says. they are just trying to sell the product. they get money for doin' that. On the internet the number 1 protein shakes (such as Optimum) contains metal too, it's not good for you for LONG term. Don't fall in the MARKETING strategy. search for 10 mins on internet and you will figure out what's good :)

I believe most protein shakes contains artificial ingredients are not approved by government. Which this means, it mgiht be containing metal (Most of them does), you have to be careful about these... this will KILL you. get something that is government approved. I like Progressive nutrition company (Personal and government approved) but you can use what jeff has. it's organic. Just look at the customer report, you will be surpise how much metal contains in protein shakes.

  • Is artificial ingredients in protein powder really bad??

  • Jeff: Great Video and couldn't agree with you more. What is your take on what kids/teens should do when they've just complete a 2hr. match and they are given 1hr. to start their next in junior tournaments. What is the best recovery for them? Thanks in advance!

  • @mastROfWraiths

That's good for you being vegetarian. but not for everybody. It's personal choice. Banana is awesome, full of fiber, fructose, slow digesting and other benefits. But one banana is around 100 cal. if banana calories fits in your rest of calories, take it. Protein shakes are made for convenience. After workout / tennis training, if you can't eat a healthy meal, take protein shake.
