Defensive Side Kick Lesson- Using Defensive Angles to Avoid Follow up by the Attacker.
Defensive Side Kick (D-S) (D-Side) is used primarily in point fighting (sport karate), full contact karate and American kick boxing.
Other styles that use this kick are JKD Jeet Kune Do, less often TKD Tae Kwon Do, Savate, San Da.
For people who know how to use it, Defensive Side Kick is a very effective technique.
Adding defensive angles right after the kick, reduces that chance of the follow up, by the attacker.
Pay attention to the offensive and defensive side kick variation.

  • Gah! sound issues dude. It doesn't matter how good your product is its all about how you package it. If you want to make money you need to at least look professional. Check out Master Wong's channel. his content may be pretty crap but it is presented well.

    Thank you for your comment.

  • The sound quality has some problems...

  • Good tips; it is amazing how basic these are, but I've never thought of them before.

Like most stuff in other fields of life, I guess, no matter how banal they are, if someone doesn't show it to you, it's hard to discover them.

  • @Elasticsteel I do agree with MrSneakNicky's comment about the sound, however, once you started doing that drill with your student, I didn't even notice. I like your stuff, please post more.

  • I'm gonna use that when train....cuz that's how opponents hit me at tournaments (when u move inside and the get u first with the kick) and sometimes I can barely see it coming lol

  • im interested in whats the chances of landing a defensive side kick, can it be blocked? i know its a powerful kick, and im guessing no opponent could block it with there arms?

    Thanks

  • @Andythefunkman then aim for his knees and thighs and if he still grabs for your foot then can you not hit him with your hands?

  • @Andythefunkman dont just stand there

    either try break the hold

or develop a good ground game, the basics of brazilian jui-juitsu helps alot

  • faster re-chambers

  • then you are pretty fucked:)
