How to Fix a Scratched Xbox 360 game Disk with Car Wax

First off i want to say when it was scratch it would not let me play it would not read. after i cleaned it really hard, it let me play but it would not let me play online it would not read the disk.

ok its 2am and shit im trying to fix my xbox because it has the red ring of death (RROD) i looked on youtube and found the penny trick and it works!!! holy shit it works! then after that i tried to adjust my xbox and i heard a loud ass scratching noise i panic and unplugged the power and then replugged it took the disk out and found some small circle scratches FML after just fixing the RROD i got perfect circle scratch lucky it was not that bad. i found through Ehow you can fix it with car wax good shit i had some. so its like close to 4 am and i thought i make a video on it.

PS dont blame me if this doesn't work for you im just filming what i read online and decided to do.

i didn't follow Ehow instructions i just did it like i was going buff my car

heres how i did it :

Step one: Clean it best you can with a dry cloth

Step two: spray the wax on the disk and spread it evenly on the disk i think for deeper scratches you can spray alot and let it sit for a minute then remove it.

Step three: rub off with normal cloth in a line motion away from the center of the disk.

Step four: Spray more wax and use a micro fiber towel it really helps get the wax off so there's no excess on the disk

Step five:put the game in, cross your finger and hope it works!

LAY YOUR XBOX DOWN FLAT!!!! I went into Gamestop and they said the reason you get a circle scratch along your cd is because you have it standing up like a tower. The Xbox has nothing holding in the cd which means the cd comes loose and the laser in your Xbox scratches it. Now if you slap your Xbox in a fit of nerd rage like me.. then you'll get a scratch on it.. hence why I'm looking at these videos... but seems I fixed mine with toothpaste. Good luck.

i tried to do this on my halo reach. but it isn't a scratch, it's kind of more like a cut instead of a scratch. don't ask me how it happened, it just did. any way it didn't work at all so if u have a cut instead of a scratch, don't waste your time. kinda like this comment. pure stupidity and a waste of time. why the fuck am i still typing?

@sevkraut81 and anothing thing down load the disc to ur hard drive so if it does get a scratch or A CRACK it will still work as long as the disc is in the tray

i hope this works for me, i was playing new vegas and all the sudden the screen went black and i heard grinding, next thing i know theres a really big circular scratch in my disc

@THEARBITER641 I put my toothpaste on and rubbed it in for a good couple minutes. The longer the better, then wash it off and dry it off with a soft cloth. Should work after a couple tries.

@sevkraut81 Nope doesn't work :/ It really does suck -.- (I had that experience with all my old dreamcast games,feels like trying to blow in a N64 so hard but it still wont come up right.) But it did stop later in the installing then before,so I may be making some progress,im going to try and put more toothpaste and rubbing on it for now longer. How long did you rub yours on?

@THEARBITER641 dang! I would try the toothpaste again, then while it's working download the game to your xbox harddrive if you have the space. Then the scratches wont matter.

@sevkraut81 Oh,well it didnt work anyway with regular toothpaste :/. Well barely,it allowed me to actually play the game...for like 3 minutes. Then itll give me the message and take me back to xbox home,whats stupid is that the game is working completely fine,its the freakin message that messes me up. Idk if its because I only smoothed the paste on for 5 minutes twice or that it doesn't work period.

Looks like I gotta get it buffed at play n trade,any clue on how much it is?

@THEARBITER641 Yea, after putting the toothpaste on it rub it in one direction of the cd and not small circles... then just wash it off, dry it and it should work. I had to use the toothpaste a couple times.
