  • I'm watching these terrible "high"-lights of that 1995 Game 5 A.L. Division Series on MLB Network right now...

O.k., you're positive the Metropolitans were still on Channel 9 in 1998? For some reason or another I remember seeing their games on Channel 11 that season. But I suppose they still were on Channel 9 for one more season. Not that anyone (other than Kev James and the rest of their fans) really noticed. Lol...

I believe that's what internet sources say.

The 1995 ALDS was against Seattle, right? I remember the series against Seattle. The Yanks lost to them that year & Tino Martinez was on Seattle. Then the next year, we beat Seattle when Tino was on our team. I miss that guy & many others on the team back then (like Brosius, O'Neill, Williams, etc). Even though I'm a Mets fan, I love the Yanks as long as they don't play each other. But I'm fed up with the Mets' management & owners.

  • i miss the yanks on ch11 why in the world they put the stupid mets on there is beyond me

  • @retroguy1976

Well, I'm a fan of both but of course like the Mets more, though I'll be the first to admit they currently suck. They switched the Yanks & the Mets. I remember the Yanks used to be on 11 (WPIX) while the Mets were on 9 (WWOR). Then the Mets got 11 (& have been on it to this day) while the Yanks got 9. Then came the YES network & they showed most of the Yanks games, though 9 still showed them about twice a week as of last season.

  • I miss the WB 11 & Fox 5 days.

  • @BartmanMC

Well channel 5 is still Fox 5, I liked channel 11 when it was just known as WPIX. I loved the Shocktober movies they showed. They would be on this month if the channel would have kept Shocktober going.

  • @BrooklynEagle I know this was from 8 months ago, but to answer your question......Yes the Mets did air a handful of their games on Channel 9 in 1998 (by that time though, the VAST majority of them were on Sportschannel/Fox Sports Net)......1998 was the last season the Mets ever aired games on channel 9, by 1999 they aired most weekend games on WPIX Channel 11

  • y dont thhe yanks make ads for there games any more? or do they?? idk dish doesnt provide yes

  • @Hal20062b

No. WWOR-TV started broadcasting Yankee games on "free TV", in 2005. WCBS 2 was still calling Yankee games in 2004. The YES Network has been producing the games on "free TV", since 2002.

  • @carlinrulez666 But it did move to WWOR-TV in 2004, right?

  • @Hal20062b

In that case, WCBS started broadcasting Yankee games in 2002.

  • @carlinrulez666 The TV Station

  • @Hal20062b

Are you talking about the radio or tv station?

  • @carlinrulez666 Oh, because I thought they moved to WCBS in 2000.

If you want to get mad, get mad at the Yankees for not hiring Don Mattingly to be the manager.

He deserves to have his number retired, and I forgot to mention he has the highest fielding percentage of all time (.996), hit over .400 in his only 5 playoff games including 10 hits and 6 RBI's. Not to mention, he would give 110% every game, even if he was injured. He is one of those players that would give his heart and soul on the field.

A-Rod won't get his # retired for using PEDs.
