Is this music played under dosbox then recorded or is this midi file played in an advanced midi player like Xmplay or something? It sounds very different to what WMP makes of the midi files. This sounds excellent.

@Medawky I used program "Wardraft" and extracted original midi's from FDATA. Then I converted midi to mp3 with any program (I don't remember name, it's 2 years ago), it made this "quality".

The original Warcraft's tunes are a lot darker and more gothic-sounding than the later games' pieces.

I must admit, these set an amazing mood for the somber First War.

Hehe, nice to see that people are still having fun with this wonderful ol' thing.

Not sure where I may have mentioned the game is depressing to play - maybe I was just referring to my own wishes that a modern Warcraft was done in a similar style, but with more user-friendly controls. I think I mostly regret that I feel there's a lot of potential in a dark Warcraft game that's being wasted on the brighter games.

@Typanoid Shameless plug, I know, But Warcraft 1 is far from depressing to play. Check my channel, we have videos of multiplayer War1. Very exciting, and yes, the dark feeling of the game is vastly superior imo.

@StoanPhrogg Earlier blizzard games were a lot darker in general.

It's hard to imagine a blizzard game ending with the villains winning now, yet it happened in a few of their earlier games (Brood War and Warcraft I especially). Before someone mentions Arthas in TFT; he didn't so much win as not lose - he survived but lost a huge chunk of his army to Sylvanus and didn't actually kill Illidan either.

Because some of us want Warcraft to go back to the old feeling again if they make another - Warcraft 1's gameplay is so dated that it's depressing to play these days, yet there's no other game in the series that nails that particularly awesome feel like Warcraft 1 does. (Not even War2).

Sure we ain't playing War3, but just accepting its changes won't support our own cause and desires, now do they? If we complain, there's at least a tiny chance...
