MEDIA- Media expression dealing with intercultural attitudes is a multilateral international youth exchange, implemented under action 1.1 of the Youth in Action programme. The project aims to brings together young people, aged 16-25 years old, from different countries in Europe- Estonia, Romania, Hungary, Poland and Turkey- on the topic of national identity and European citizenship. The venue of the main activity is the small community of Palamuse, located in Jõgeva county, Estonia.
For the 10 days of activity beginning 19th until 28th of March, the youngers will cope with the program in the direction of interactively expressing elements building their national identity, focusing on the way they integrate them as part of their belonging to a certain nation or culture. By the activities foreseen in the project, the structured methods of non-formal education and allocated time for informal education, cultural and national differences will be placed in the light of elements of diversity, increasing the younsters awareness and a more tolerant attitude towards other cultures. Furthermore, the topic of the project focuses on how youngsters build and sustain their European citizenship, which they will be encouraged to think over and express creatively, as element of unity, regadless each ones context and cultural background.
The predominant working tool used in the above mentioned purposes will be workshops using media intruments, depending on youngsters needs and interests. The media instruments will be an efficient and innovative tool of communication and expression on this issues for the participants, who, by the end of the main activity, will have to create different media materials, which will not only be a medium of expressing their learning outcomes and self beliefs, but also a good tool for disseminating results and for raising awareness towards both the project and also on the Youth in Action programme.
