Lily taught Inky to "beg" as an extension of the sit command. Inky would get overly excited and break a "sit" if offered a favorite toy, so Lily gave the upright sit a cue: "beg" and Inky does it on command. Lily has to be careful not to reward the dog for getting too close and touching her, as that's considered jumping or similar undesirable behavior. The "beg" command usually gets sloppy when done too long so we keep it short. This is a good example of teaching a trick using the dog's natural behavior, even a possibly annoying one like begging or jumping. Kids really enjoy dog training and are usually more patient than adults.
