Les was FABULOUS!

I love Les's playing, especially at this stage of his career, late 40's, I even like the singing, the guy has a not-bad voice, even with the clowning around, and the Larry(of the 3 Stooges) hairdo. I once had the privilege to see Les inNew York during his legendary Monday night gig at the Iridium , and, despite being crippled with arthritis, was brilliant. He even apologized to the audience that he couldn't play as well as he used to but 2nd rate Les Paul is better than anything I can think of.

@seadawn79 May he rest in well-earned Peace!

@Atomicflash500 er...yes. These Soundies were lip synced/played to a prerecorded track - like a music video. Not live.

What's the name of this movie?

@seadawn79 -- it's not a movie. It's called a Soundie. Was kind of like an early version of a music video.

The bass player is my father, Robert Meyer! They started out together and played together into the 50's. I have many 8x10 photos, reel to reel tapes, movies in storage. I recall many stories about Les Paul and Mary Ford. My father went on to do NBC Carson Cellar Show w/Johnny Carson as staff musician and side kick in skits. Also a radio show with his jazz trio "The New Yorkers" . My father and Les were the same age, however my father passed away 1992.
