Actually, Brel was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1973. Le Moribond was written in 1961-- 12 years before he was diagnosed with cancer.
I'm sure Brel took his real death a little more seriously than this :p

Knowing the history behind this song
(written this as he was diagnosed with cancer&
afterward imitated by Terry Jacks).
If there is anybody I would have liked2bring back&meet it would have been Jacques Brel4many reasons :-)
Jacques was so much in touch with reality although he had a lot of difficulties with accepting his own waloon origin/destiny.A modern Peer Gyn maybe?Well,aren't we all;left us with a lot of beautiful songs!!i AM FLEMISH

C'est pas la plus connue de ses chansons, mais c'est une de mes préférés avec Madeleine.
