unknown: The Patriot Act is NOT fulfilling the promise of security WITH civil liberties. Most folks just don't yet realize yet what they've already lost, or if they DO, they don't care. The American backbone, for the most part, is gone. Our citizenry has become a bunch of spoiled, frightened, pathetic losers. Few are willing to consider sacrificing ANYTHING for the sake of our country. Most think that displaying "flag lapel pins" and bumper stickers is all one needs to do to show patriotism.
OK, I understand the Act is not perfect but you rarely hear any outcry in the news, especially from the ACLU. So, maybe it's fufilling that promise of security and civil liberties. If we do need to get rid of it, then we'll just change the provisions. Gladly, it's every 5 years of renewal when you can make your case. Anyway, I do agree on the cell phones, etc.

unknown: The Patriot Act is part of the problem... not part of the solution. How do we protect ourselves without violating civil liberties? We do what we used to do. We become vigilant. People need to put their fu**ing cell phones away, turn off American Idol, and start paying attention to what's going on around them. We've ALWAYS had danger. That element always increases in a free society. Unfortunately, we've become a population of lazy chickenshits who will put up with anything to stay safe.
OK. since you claim our constitution is being destroyed, what better solution is there than the Patroit Act and others? How do we protect ourselves without violating civil liberties? That's what we need to address, here. I did read an article once and there was a protestor in one of McCain's townhall meetings on nuclear power and interestingly McCain was willing to give a mike to that protestor. Hopefully, Obama will do something like McCain in the future so he'll be more preped up.

wb88... You may be 27, but you're obviously still a dumbass. You need to do a little more research. What kind of books are you reading... Ann Coulter? Bill O'Reilly? Sean Hannity? Widen your horizons a little, Sparky. Try watching MSNBC... you might actually learn some REAL FACTS about the candidates.
Hmm. I read two or three books a week. I'm not the illiterate little shit you say I am. Oh and I'm not 19, I'm 27. I just threw up some numbers on the sign up screen. Sure, I know that's still young, but that doesn't mean that I haven't done enough research. I was part of the R.O.T.C. in high school and put a lot of thought into joining the army, but I received a scholarship to U.N.L.V. Besides, how old are you? It doesn't say on your page so I don't know if you're a dumbass college student.

wb88888: You're only nineteen years old. How much research could you have done? As I said earlier... do some reading, GROW UP, and get some life experience. You're just a useless little turd, and your opinion is irrelevant. Want to be RELEVANT?... Get your little ass over to Afghanistan, and put your money where your trashy little mouth is. You love what this administration has done? Fine. Show you support them by jumping into one of their wars. Or are you a coward like your favorite president?
McCain is full of shit, he repeatedly stated those exact words.
