ManClub is back with an amendment to the rear brake video we did last year. Honda has released documentation that shows the rear brake caliper slider pins were installed incorrectly in the factory. We'll fix the slider pin, and lube up everything. We'll also see how our C-Max pads are holding up.

According to the service manual, "if the caliper pins are installed in the wrong location, it will cause vibration, uneven or rapid pad wear, and possibly uneven tire wear"

  • Where did you get the Honda Lettering for the caliper?

  • @PVoyager

Honda Hi-Temp decals from eBay. I used G2 Epoxy to black out the calipers.

  • Holy Crap....You can get your carpet cleaned for only 19.95

  • @phatocaster

You can party like it's on sale for $19.99!

  • I was wondering what was causing the premature brake failures in Honda Accords, even before it happened to me. If you don't mind me asking, how did you know about the document that you said came with the new upgraded brakes. You installed the Autozone Duralast brakes, as I did. I'm just curious how you knew about it. I am grateful that I saw your video, I'm just a little skeptical because my local Honda parts dept. didn't know about it. I'm not criticizing. Thanks again. Please respond.

I found out about the slider pin reversal by reading on the Accord forums. Someone had posted the document, which came with their redesigned brake pads (with v-springs). It is an official Honda document. If you look in the service manual, you'll see how the pins are supposed to be installed. There's even a warning about what happens when they're not installed correctly.

If your local dealer has a the new rear brake part kit, they will probably find the document in the box.

  • Would someone let me know regarding the front calipers on a 2007 honda accord se 4dr sedan/4cylinder does the flat sided pin/slider go on the bottom and does the other pin/slider with the rubber piece attached on the tip go on the top?

  • @ManClubAustin

LOL. Great video. I was just joking around with you. You have really good videos. Thanks, Scott

If you have a '08 or '09, or a very very early '10 model, they'll be swapped.

  • Thanks so much for the video. I just changed my rear brakes today. I'm going back in to see if my pins are reversed. I made it to 23000 miles.
