Break ups, Bodies and Brain freeze

Hello friends! Again, a long overdue update.

I also (try to) pose a question me and my friend had a discussion about;
Is presenting transgendered children the option of surgery (creating a phallus, removal of breasts) and hormones at a young age indoctrinating them with the cultural importance of, and hyperfocus on, the body?

Is it the same as saying "with breast you can't be a real man"? In other words, are we putting to much power in the notion; the body makes the man/woman?

I am not saying I agree with these questions and statements, but I am curious to see what you think!

maybe it would be better if they just sorta find out than have it on a plate right in front of them

if they are really dysphoric about their body, they will likely look it up for themselves and figure out if that's what they want and if they really want to do it.

if you really aren't content with your body i guess you would want to know what the options are,and once you've figured that out yourself, then you can decide

but that's just my opinion really

Hey Lisoul,

I don't think presenting them with the options of hormone therapy and surgery in reinforces the notion that the body makes the man/woman. It's still up to the child to child who and what they are. If they feel like male but want to keep their breasts or feel female and don't want hormones or to remove their penis that's okay. No one is forcing them to take medical action but it is a possibility if they want it.
