No Arms for Atrocities

For decades the irresponsible and poorly regulated international arms trade has contributed to death, injuries, torture and other serious human rights abuses -- including sexual violence -- affecting a million or more people every year. In July, all the world's governments will meet at the United Nations in New York, for a month of negotiations to agree a global Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) -- the first of its kind.

Monday , 11th of June 2012 marks the beginning of the Arms Trade Treaty Global Week of Action and this campaign video is designed to support the peak period of activism and visibility for Amnesty International's Global Campaign.

Its a pity that the film was translated in all the languages of the armsdealer countries, but into German. We could really need this film, especcially as we are having a raging debate on a transfer of 280 tanks (with inner-city-fighting-gear) to Saudi Arabia.

Every year, at least 250,000 people are killed due to armed conflict, while 300,000 others are killed by arms used outside conflict. That’s enough people to fill more that 1594 aeroplanes!
