  • I got a math exam tomorrow so hopefully I do well

  • Carrying problems have to be taught in the context of place value. The strategies we are implementing now use ten frames. These are cutouts that are divided evenly into ten parts. When you count you are carrying over a number that has exceeded 9 and spills over into the tens place.

The video is using old school techniques as the new math attempts to bridge the gap between what is learned by rote and the underlying math concepts.

  • As he indicates in the video, I think the key is making sure the child has a firm grasp of each level of addition before moving on to a harder level. Plenty of practice before moving up!

  • @quadrelatera I think it's quite efficient, actually.

  • amazing,.....interesting for kids 2 learn....

  • abschick- nobody cares, stop bragging about your child.

  • i know, my sister is in 2nd grade and she has never seen a "carrying" problem before!! i was shocked and actually disgusted, because in 2nd grade, i was learning the times tables up to 12!!

but this vid series def. helps...thanks!!

  • What do you mean?

  • My little daughter graduated as pre-elementary validectorian, She didn't went to Kumon, But I believe too Kumon helps a lot.

But with or without Kumon, Parents can still guide their child on the very top level of their class performance.

You just need to consistently focus and devote a lot of time teaching the child.

  • thats overteaching......
