It's not about seven winds, it's called 'ninna nanna A sette E venti', it means that a kid goes to bed at seven twenty o'clock.

'Venti' means 'twenty' in italian, your theory with seven winds is ridiculous, it has nothing to do with jews, magic or mysteries, it's just a plain song about the time when kids used to go to bed early.

Albeit it sounds creepy, I agree:D

Must be tradition.

Many nations in Europe have this "seven winds" thing.

It must come from the old christian teachings inherited from even older judaic texts who use the number 7 quite a lot.

At that time the religion was occupying a great part of the social and personal life of people, so even the most personal manifestations like the lullaby were containing a great deal of religious signs,numbers and meanings.

@bzkaa Yes , it did. A little diverse at the beggining tho. The original was "sette venti" not "sette e venti"

The difference is that the one with the "e" means a certain hour (and during 14 century they didn't really had clocks yet), while the one without the "e" means "seven winds" - e venti = past twenty / i venti = winds
