  • well i lost a lot of weight on my own and those stupid side effects of pcos DID NOT go away

  • The surgery is more powerful than weight loss alone. It changes a variety of other insulinogenic hormones.

  • further explanation would b appreciated,or a website?

  • Am Surg. 2004 Jan;70(1):1-4 Hormonal changes after Roux-en Y gastric bypass for morbid obesity and the control of type-II diabetes mellitus. Gastric bypass (RNY) has been shown to normalize glucose intolerance. GIP and C-peptide both decreased significantly. Gastric Bypass rapidly normalizes fasting plasma glucose in morbidly obese patients with DM-II. GIP, a factor in the enteroinsulin axis, decreases and may play a role in the correction of DM-II after gastric bypass.

  • Bypass leads to a decrease in fasting leptin and insulin levels. Progressively increasing peptide YY, enteroglucagon and glucagon-like peptide are also observed.

  • Search Google (gastric bypass, glp, gip, insulin and diabetes

  • Look up info on the raw food diet and watch the movie ' Simply Raw'. In the movie, a handfull of diabetics go raw for 30 days and most were able to get off the insulin shots and lose weight. Also, search the raw radiant health channel, where a woman explains how she reversed her pcos. I have pcos and I truely believe that I can reverse this. I want you to believe it too. Our bodies can heal itself, it just needs healthy foods to fuel it. I wouldn't try surgery just yet.

  • I am going to do this. I am 28 years old, 270 lbs and I cannot loose the weight. I just found out I have diabetes, I cannot get pregnant, I dont have a period anymore. I want to take control of my life again. I have my first meeting the first tuesay of April. Only need to go to one meeting. I hope this works!!!

  • I'm only 16 and i just found out i have the "disease" not the syndrome yesterday and i'm pretty sure im getting a lazer surgery for this PCOS. I only weighted 110 lbs a couple of months ago and now i weight 133 lbs =[ this is horrible.

  • Dear friends,

My sister was diagnosed with PCOS a few weeks ago, and I would like to ask you is how long does it take the treatment of this sydrome. Thank you so much for the help

  • i want this! my neurologist suggested it im just weighing my options but i hate pcos - i feel like it robs me of myself - maybe this could give it back

  • I have every symptom of PCOS, Acne, Lank Hair, Skin Tags, Absent Menses, alopecia, hirstism, mood swings, Arrrr

  • I'm 36 yrs old and had PCOS since I was a teenager. I was on Metformin, Spironolactone, and Demulen for a few years. I had gastric bypass 4 months ago and came off all my meds then. Since surgery, my periods have been 100% normal with a 28-day cycle. Previously if I didn't take birth control I only had a period once every 18 months. My hair is starting to get thicker and my other PCOS symptoms are gone. The one symptom I read doesn't go away is facial hair, but I plan to have laser removal done.

  • My doctor explained this to me and I needed a refresher...thanks for your explaination, now I can better explain to my family. Haha.

  • I was wondering if one were more comfortable trying a less invasive approach would the lap band be something that would also help the PCOS/Infertility problem?

  • I wish there were doctors in my area like you who actually know what they are talking about when it comes to PCOS. I was diagnosed when I was 21 after reading an article about PCOS and telling my Doctor that is what I had, before that I was told everything was "normal". My husband and I are now trying to concieve our first child. I wish I could afford some sort of a weight loss surgery and some of the medications I need in order to concieve. However we have no insurance.
