I just learned this on my new pocket trumpet (yesterday i just started the trumpet...I think im pretty good for someone whose been playing non stop for two days) anyone have a suggestion for hitting the high notes

@TheGothicemorocker Lots more practice. Plus, maybe a smaller mouthpiece could help with high notes. Mostly, it requires building up your lip strength.

I was stationed on board a Navy cruiser in the early '70's. The CO found out I played the bugle so he persuaded me to make tape recordings of all the daily bugle calls. Reveille, Chow Call, To The Colors, Tattoo (played 30 minutes before lights out) and Taps. Most Navy ships stopped bugle calls when the ship's bands were dropped.

what is TAPS?
bonzoAU 1 year ago
@bonzoAU Taps is a bugle call that is traditionally played at military funerals and honorary ceremonies. Click on "wikipedia" for a pretty good history.
Originally, taps was played at "lights out" or bedtime on military installations. During the American Civil War, soldiers began to request Taps for funerals.
