@Starscream2040 USA uses it, and possibly England / UK. If you were to hold a candle up to something a century or two back (before electricity) in the dark, as to inspect it closely and in detail. If somebody (or someTHING) couldn't hold a candle to somebody / thing else, it means the second person being judged / inspected falls way short of the beauty or quality of the other. As in, Demi Moore is nothing next to Dolores. Which she isn't. Not even remotely close, lol
