As I continue to learn about my MakerBot (#155) - I continue to have interesting experiences. This clip shows a moment when a few things went wrong all at once. I've got several theories as to what the exact issue was, though I suspect it's partly because I was running without end stop sensors, partly that I used someone else's GCode and not my own and possibly there could be a bit of a design weakness in the Insulator Barrel. I don't really know for sure what the main issue that led to this was, but regardless shelving the MakerBot isn't an option - it's far too awesome for that! I love it!

Not to mention it's far too expensive to just shelve! $750 paperweight!

You were running your extruder at too high a temperature, that's why it came out of the PTFE barrier. Either that or you have a wonky thermistor.

Using someone else's gcode is never advisable--everyone's machine is unique. Maybe that's what caused the barrel to heat up too high.
