No HS2 across the Chilterns

Well it's got to go somewhere; just be glad it's not cutting the green in half! It IS needed, think of the commuters from P'borough, Huntingdon, Bedford, M Keynes, Tring et al that are rammed into trains. We need HS2 to relieve the West Coast, Midland and East Coast, to increase local services. The lines are full. If you plonk extra tracks on the W Coast, then it won't help the Midland or the E Coast, and it will blight other "villages" that adjoin the line. As I said, it's got to go somewhere.

This well meaning film only panders to pro hs2 as Geoffrey Screams middle class privilege. As a person form the North I would much rather have a decent cross rail link between Liverpool, Manchester, leeds and New castle. That is the Norths priority.

Thank you for this series of pictures. I now see that virtually every journey I take will pass the route of this monstrosity. It will destroy everything I know. It is government licenced vandalism. The money spent trying to persuade us all that this is a good idea would be better spent on making our present train system fit for purpose and run at fares that people can afford. How can anyone say that HS2 will bring economic prosperity? No one will be able to afford to travel on it!

High Speed rail is the way forward and people just keep thinking about London to Birmingham, but if its extended (which is intended) it would serve Manchester, a city which its economy is rapidly growing. People constantly go on about the North-South divide, but if the HSR gets to Liverpool and Greater Manchester, London's, Liverpool's and Manchester's economies will grow. Its happed in cities across Europe and Asia. Even the US are building, a country which barely uses trains.
SAY NO TO HS2!
Firstly: We have no money to pay for it, which means children like me will have to pay for it when we are older.
Secondly: Hs2 WILL FAIL as Hs1 has failed.
Thirdly: People can find other transport to get to the places they have to.
& so much more. To be honest this 'train' is going to wreck peoples lives who live around it. It will takes years to build and it is A TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY! Selfish people.

Those opposed to HS2 are wealthy middle-aged Luddite NIMBYs who selfishly care more about the short-term value of their property than a scheme that will bring economic prosperity back to future generations of Britain. Every other developed nation has extensive high speed rail except for the UK and our future success rests upon a transport network that meets future demands.
I understand concerns over this scheme but the pros strongly outweigh the cons and I wish the NIMBYs would see this.
