re: Join the EDL - my speech

In this video trouble for my use of words, while talking about 7/7 I said there will always be people who want to blow shit up and upset a lot of people. So let me clear this up.

When a man blows himself up on a crowded train he does it to make an impact and to create fear and division. Now when I used this phrase I was responding to a member of the English Defense League who in my opinion are appeasing the terrorists by allowing their actions to create the exact fear and division the terrorists wanted.




In the 1970s and 1980s London was bombed consistently by the IRA and what did Londoners do? They got on with it, carry on England. They did not allow the IRA to win. It was gentle diplomacy that sorted the problem out not English Defence League style confrontations outside catholic churches or in city centres. While I respect the English Defence Leagues right to protest in a modern liberal democracy I am sure they are making the situation worse by drawing a clear line though the population of Muslims and Us, just what the terrorist wanted all along.

Anyway back to my controversial choice of words. Shit happens OK and we have to just get on with it, that was the point I was trying to make. Look at cars, we want to drive but traffic kills people every day (far more then terrorism) but do we ban the car or protest against its use? No we accept that we want to get on with our lives, drive and live with the fact that people will die as a result of that. We can't put an end to car accsidents and we can't put and end to nutters who want to blow things up, sadly both will always exsist.

Lets put things into perspective and go back to what I said in my first blog entree. If every plane in the sky now crashed and everybody on board died the world would stand still, hold moments of silence and never forget but thats how many die of hunger every day.

Forget the war on terror its insignificant in comparison, (if its even possible to declare war on a tactic and win) lets sort out the real problems.




Anyway if somebody evil wants you to panic, dont panic.

There is no such thing as the English race, we're just people who happen to live here and we're not more or less moral then any-other because morality is universal. Also you should't make assumptions. I'm English with 4 grandparents, one was a shipbuilder, the rest were teachers, 1 escaped the holocaust. None of them were responsible for British imperialism and neither was I or 99% of English people.

Sharia law has to adhere to the law of its host nation and it only applies to Muslims, you cannot be subject to sharia law unless you are a Muslim. The edl goons see it as some sort of renegade law that beheads people and beats women but over 80% of the 2.5 billion Muslims live quite peacefully in the Asian Pacific regions and Europe. The one thing that hangs the edl is their lack of research or creditable sources.

I'm so sick of the ignorance and paranoia from the edl summed up with their obsession about sharia law. In the UK sharia courts exist only as a binding arbitrator as an alternative to going before official courts to settle legal or family disputes; which has to be freely chosen by both parties. Largest Muslim countries have a secular constitution & laws, in most countries they have a dual system where the religious side deals with marriage & inheritance & secular courts with law.
