A little demo of my three reso's from Republic guitars..
Wood body Miniolian, Steel body Resolian & Brass bodied Tricone Style 3. Might be fun to hear the difference in tone and stuff!?

  • Makes me want to jump down, turn around, and pick a bale of cotton.

    Haha, that's great!!

  • Hey Man! Do you have your guitars set up when they arrive or play factory set up? I'm 90% convinced to get the wooden Mini Reso. Do you have/like Nationals? I've had many many vintage Nationals over the years and still play an El Trouvador & new reproduction Duolian. Both are amazing guitars but as we all know.... pricey. All your videos with the Republic Guitars sound really good. Is the sound quality consistent from one instrument to the other?

    Thanks,

    mike

  • My Republics and Amistars are factory set up and it works really well. Usually after a while I do my own set ups to get things the way I want it!! But not always..

My 5 Republics have ALL been awesome from the first moment out of the box..

I can't say how others are but my guitars have been great, that's all I can say.. :-)

The Miniolian is really cool and amazing for the size and price!!!

    Thanks, Tom!

The Miniolian is quite loud and it's light weight compared to most other reso's..

But it's not louder than the Highway 61! So if you want a travel-reso maybe the Hgw61 could be a good choice? The 3/4 size(see my video clips) is just awesome, great tone and volume!!

Smaller than the Miniolian and somewhat lighter than the full size metal resonators.

If you're after the "tone of wood" in a reso, go for the Miniolian.

    Good luck finding your guitar!!!

  • @BottleneckJohn , oh and i ment the miniolin by the way!

  • @BottleneckJohn i john, love ur playing as always, i am thinking of buying this, will it cope in a acoustic jam say with a few guitars and a harp player, i was not sure about how loud it is, but i want to try it becasue i travel a lot, i take my telecaster with me for electric and maybe this for acoustic slide, but it would be much more easy to trasport or carry this than a big heavy steel body full reso, so how is it? thanks so much. tom

  • THANKS!! Glad you like it!

Even though I like each one I must say that a tricone always wins when I have to choose!!!

  • Fantastic video John...I want to buy a rebublic guitar soo bad..lol...John, out of all of these, what's YOUR favorite? Or do you really have one?

  • Thank YOU very much for being here watching!!
