  • Thank you Geeza...

It was simply awesome to witness in person.

And by the way, you're pretty much a living legend your goodself ;-)

  • People,

Telles plays turtle guard its true. In this blaclbelt mini-tournament Telles tapped out the other blackbelts he faced, but when he met Galvao he resorted to his 'bread and butter' - the turtle guard. And Galvao, being the absolute master he is, had a plan. Peep the 'reverse ezekiel' choke at the end. Galvao put a brilliant submission on Telles effectively shutting down his most famed and skilled position. Woot! *snuggles BJJ :)

  • I totally agree. He has a good turtle no doubt, but that does not mean it should be his go to position. He should only use the turtle when forced to and try to use other dominant positions.

  • is that josh barnett in the black shirt standing up talking under the basketball hoop later in the fight?

  • To all the turtle haters out there, i say this: for self defense purposes, "position before submission" is a good motto. for mma or sport grappling purposes though, the value of a position is relative to the amount of control that you can personally impose from that position. Telles can impose alot of control from the turtle position even though it was originally labeled by the Gracies as a "bad position". A better motto for sport purposes would be "control then submission".

  • @jasong13 have fun using any guard on the street.

  • Wtf is up with the cameraman? He's recording the fight while I am watching the ref lol

  • Turtle Guard = haha

  • GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY

  • @SuperSneakySteve Who are you again? What are your accolades in Martial Arts? Exactly you are a troll and your opinion on this subject is worth null. A street fighter could not get a BJJ practicioner to turtle your typical street fighter is retarded. You say turtle is a position that is detrimental but it's not like you understand any position in the BJJ system so no one will take your feeble-minded opinion into consideration.

  • @jasong13 You're dumb if someone goes to turtle guard it is because of being snuffed from the normal positions, which your typical street fighter will not be able to do. When I have turtle if you are not presenting downward pressure then I am going to fall to my back and play open guard which will make the fight neutral. You give street fighters way too much credit they tend to be irascible people and fight viscerally, people like that fighting Martial Artists and defeating them is piffle.

  • @jasong13 its a sport. do you actually think normal ppl will just pull guard in a street fight or turtle up?

  • @SuperSneakySteve if telles fight in the street he gone kick your ass , watch eduardo telles vs. rafael el sapo
